William Wellington Ryding, of Atwood Road died June 27, 2005 at his home. He was 81.
He was born May 11, 1924 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Reuben and Esther Benson Ryding.
Mr. Ryding taught French and literature at Columbia University and Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he served as chairman of the language department. His books include Structure in Medieval Narrative.
An ardent music lover, he played piano and harpsichord.
Surviving is his son, Erik of Brooklyn, his sister, Karin Ryding of Maclean, VA and his companion, Rosemary Deen of Stone Ridge.
A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 3021 State Route 213 East, Stone Ridge.
