William W. Turner, of Lafayette Ave., Kingston died Friday, September 7, 2007 at his home. He was 86.
He was born in Schuyler Falls, NY on July 9, 1921, a son of the late Claude and Florence Bates Turner. Mr. Turner was raised in Schuyler Falls. He served in the US Air Force during WW II in the European Theater of Operations. He married Beatrice Julia Curran on August 30, 1948.
A graduate of the Albany Business College, They moved to Albany in 1948. For 25 years he was the manager at Bryant Lumber, Albany. In 1977 they settled in Kingston. He worked at Miron Building Products, Kingston for 12 years and retired in 1988. He belonged to the Lumberman's Association and was a member of the American Legion Post #150, Kingston.
Two sisters Mae Wilson and Ruth Pinkerton both died previously.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Beatrice Julia Curran Turner; four sons William W. Turner Jr. and his wife Nancy of Altamont, NY; Brian Turner and his wife Anna of Nottingham, NH; Gregory Turner of Kingston; David Turner and his wife Rita of Kingston; two daughters Linda Hermen and her husband Roger of Vale, Colorado; Lorraine Turner Bradt of Catskill, NY; one brother Claude Turner of Elizabethtown, NY; eight grandchildren Katie Arney, Carrie Marciel, William W. Turner III, Eric, Evan and Ethan Bradt; five great grandchildren Breana and Brenden Marciel, Jeffery and Connor Hayner and Emilee Jones; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 12:00. Interment with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
