William Sherwood Warnecke of Glenford, NY died November 20, 2010 peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Born February 16, 1927 in Kingston, NY, he was a son of the late Ernest and Ruth Davis Warnecke.
He was a 37 year employee and retiree of IBM and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a charter member of the West Hurley Fire Co. and Rescue Unit. He is a veteran, having served in the Army of Occupation, Blue Devil Division in Italy during WW II.
He was a HAM radio operator, raised homing pigeons and enjoyed photography, the great out doors and spent many hours on his computer, writing letters to the editor. He collected data for the National Weather Service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Balogh Warnecke, whom he married on August 2, 1949, his son William, daughters Nancy E. Kenney and her companion Maurice E. Jackman, Patricia E. Remler and her husband, Peter and Donna M. Grehl. Two brothers, four sisters, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Warnecke.
