Town of Ulster- William Cooperman, of Neighborhood Rd., Lake Katrine died Monday, January 19, 2004 at the home of his daughter on Maxwell Lane. He was 81.
He was born May 31, 1922 in the Bronx, a son of the late Louis and Molly Cooperman.
Mr. Cooperman was an army veteran of WW II, serving as a sergeant in Germany. There he met and married his wife Betty Wildman, a holocaust survivor. She was one of the first war brides of WW II.
Prior to his retirement, he was the manager of the appetizing department at the former Waldbaum’s Supermarket in the Town of Ulster. He was a member of the Workman’s Circle.
Surviving in additon to his wife are two daughters, Elaine Tapper and her husband Melvyn, Annette E. Hutton and her husband, Joseph and grandfather of Lisa Knauer, Adam Tapper, Joy Hutton and great-grandfather of Jordan Seth Knauer and Nathanial Gavin Knauer.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wed. at 12:00 noon at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston. Rabbi Y. Yitzchok Hecht will officiate.
Burial with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 VFW will be in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
