William Cooper Harcourt

William ''Bill'' Cooper Harcourt, 93, of Ulster Park, passed peacefully at Golden Hill Health Care Center Friday evening, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 9, 1919 in Zena, the son of the late Howard A. and Lela Cooper Harcourt.

He served in United States Army Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant, during WW II from June 1942 to October 1945 in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Bill was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the NYS Department of Transportation, retiring in 1981

Earlier in his life he had been a carpenter, having worked for Newton Reynolds. In addition, for many years, he had his own refuse business

He loved boating and was an active and lifelong member of Kingston Power Boat Association, serving for many years as dock master and in other capacities. He was active in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, was a member of the Town of Esopus American Legion Post # 1298 and Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW.

For many years Bill had a band called the Zena Ramblers, he played the banjo, called Square Dances, and also played the accordion, piano and the mandolin. He was known as "Mr. Fix It" and enjoyed working on cars and anything mechanical. He will be well remembered for his warm smile, sense of humor and quick wit.

He was predeceased by his wives, Mildred Reynolds Harcourt and Evelyn Zupa Harcourt, a son Daniel A. Zupa and a dear friend Jane Barnes.

Bill is survived by his loving family, his daughters Patricia A. and her husband Robert "Bob" Olsen, West Shokan, Barbara A Barth and her significant other Peter Altomari, Kingston, grandchildren Christopher and Peter Olsen, Lynn Bush, Anthony and Nancy Zupa, great grandchildren Bobby and Jessica Taylor, Molly and Megan Olsen and Delton Loveless and 3 great great grandchildren.

Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. The family will receive their friends on Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. The service will be on Wednesday at 11 am.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #1298, PO Box PO Box 627, Port Ewen, NY 12466

Burial in Wiltwyck Cemetery with military honors provided by Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW.
