William C. Mullany

William Mullany, a former resident of Kingston, NY and Chance, MD passed away on October 5, 2010 at his home in Yarmouth Port, MA from complications of Alzheimers.


William Christopher Mullany was born at home on December 24, 1926, the eighth of eleven children born to Margaret (Drennan) and James Mullany. William was predeceased by his brothers Thomas, James, Joseph, Edward, John and Gerard, and one sister, Helene. His living sisters are Marge Whelan of Point Lookout, NY; Mary Smith of New Fairfield, CT; and Ann Murray of Welton, CT. Bill is also predeceased by his first wife, Maureen (Petersen) Mullany, their daughter Elin Mullany and son Brendan. Bill is survived by his sons, William Mullany of El Paso, Texas; David Mullany and his wife Sande and their daughter Lila of Portland, OR; Christopher Mullany and his wife Sharla of Hurley, NY; Sean Mullany and his wife Maria of Delmar, NY. Also, his spouse Maureen (Petersen) Mullany of Yarmouth Port, MA and stepsons David Petersen of Jamaica Plain, MA and Daniel Petersen of Dennis, MA.


William graduated from St. John's Prep, St. John's University, and St. John's Law School, Queens, NY. Bill served in the U.S. Army 81st Infantry Division in 1945 in the Philippines and Yokahama, Japan. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.


Bill was employed at Hartford Insurance Company, Hartford, CT for many years. He opened his own law practice in Kingston, NY. Bill served on the New York State Workman's Compensation Board until his retirement in 1991.


Bill was a Communicant of St. Pius X Parish in South Yarmouth, MA.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10am at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kingston.


Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where friends may call on Friday from 7pm to 9pm.


In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communication Way, Hyannis, MA 02601 would be appreciated.
