William Aumand, Sr.

William Maxime Aumand, 98, of Kingston, NY, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 25, 2024 with family by his side.

Born in Bellows Falls, Vermont, he was the son of the late John Baptiste and Nora Walsh Aumand. William (Bill) was a graduate of St. Charles School, Bellows Falls High School as well as Albany Business School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.  He was a member of VFW Post 1386 and the American Legion, Post 150. He was employed by Morgan Linen and Curtis Industries prior to “Billy Boy Tool Company.” He was a member of St. Mary’s / St. Peter’s Church in Kingston, NY for over 70 years. He served his church in many ways as parish council member, adult altar server and lector.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan Wilson Aumand and his daughter, Barbara Hart (Bill), as well as his twin brother Jack Aumand and younger brother Gerald Aumand of Kennebunk Port, Maine. 

Bill is survived by his children, Sr. Joann Marie Aumand, SCC, William Aumand Jr. (Lisa) of North Carolina, and Carole Lynn Stopczynski (Richard) of Kingston, NY. Three grandchildren, Christina Boarman (Bill), Holly Deans (Matthew), and William Aumand, III. He has one great-grandchild, Shepherd Calvin Deans. 

Services entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave. Kingston, NY, 12401, where family and friends may visit on Monday, April 29 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 30 at 9:30am and will proceed to St. Mary’s RC Church, 160 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401 where at 10:30am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
