Walter Hung, 74, of Melbourne, FL, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Melbourne, FL. He was born July 26, 1937 in Port Ewen, to the late Elmer Hung and Dorothy Miller Hung Chiappa.
Walter moved with his mother and family to Bermuda when he was 10 years old, he returned to the United States at age 18 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
After serving his country he returned to Kingston and worked in the family restaurant business, Elmer's Inn of Ruby, and then went to work as a manager of KFC in Kingston and Poughkeepsie, he relocated to Florida where he worked until his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the Ruby Rod & Gun Club, had been a member of the Ruby Fire Company, he was a member of the American Legion Post #1748 Town of Ulster and the American Legion in Melbourne, Florida.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife Beverly Stoll Hung; they wed on June 5th, 1983, a son Walter Hung, Jr. of Kingston, a brother Thomas Chiappa of Bermuda, a sister Catherine Belvedere of Bermuda, his aunt Eileen Smith of Kingston, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen. Friends may call on Monday from 4 - 7 pm at the funeral home. Services will be held on Tuesday 11:00 a.m. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Port Ewen.
