Walter J Ekblom, 84, of Red Hook, NY, passed away April 16, 2016, at Northern Duchess Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born August 19, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Walter and Annie Curl (Medford) Ekblom. Mr. Ekblom served in the Army in the Korean War and was employed as a professional carpet and tile installer in New York and Florida. He was a lifelong Mets and Marlins fan. He loved to bowl, do puzzles, and fish. He also was known for his "funny" jokes. He is survived by his brothers Harold and Thomas and his sister Sandra Caso He is also survived by his children John and Tammy (Fields) both from his first wife Mary (McGovern deceased) and by his step children Patricia, Robert, Michael, and Louis from his second wife Rosemary (deceased) In addition he was pre deceased by his sister Yvonne and step son David. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand children and great grand children. Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral Home 326 Albany Ave Kingston NY where friends and family will be received on Tuesday April 19, from 2 to 5. A funeral service will take place at 5:00 PM.
