Vivian (Fury) Helmer, 91, of Kingston, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Golden Hill Health Care Center, Kingston. She was born August 29, 1920 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Arthur M. and Bessie (Johnson) Fury.
She was married to her loving husband of 57 years, Leonard W. Helmer Sr., they wed on May 15th 1942. Leonard passed away on September 7, 1999.
Vivian had been employed as a legal secretary and stenographer and then as medical assistant for Dr. Herbert Schwartz in Kingston.
She had been a very active member of St. James United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the UMW, served on various church committees, and was the financial secretary for a number of years.
Vivian is survived by her children Janis V. Clark and her husband Edward Sr. of Kingston; Leonard W. Helmer, Jr. "Bill" and his wife Marsha of Stone Ridge; grandchildren, Dane Helmer and his wife Heather of Lake Katrine; Lara Helmer and her partner Ryan Kleitz of Kingston; and two great granddaughters, Alexa Lynn and Lily Vivian, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her brother Arthur Fury Jr.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser, Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401.
A memorial service will be held on Dec.10 , 2011 at 4:30 pm at St. James United Methodist Church, Kingston.
Inurnment will follow in the Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.
