Virginia G. Ambrose

Virginia ''Ginny'' G. Ambrose, 84, of O'Neil Street, Kingston died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Kingston Hospital. She was born December 22, 1924 in Kingston, NY to the late John and Grace


(Reymar) Fay.




She was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1942, and was a graduate of Kingston Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1945.



After graduation from the Kingston Hospital School of Nursing, she worked as an operating room nurse at Kingston Hospital for several years.



She married the late Emilio "Mille" Ambrose on December 26, 1948, Mille died on October 19, 1993.



Mrs. Ambrose returned to work in the early 70's and was the college nurse at Ulster County Community College until her retirement.
She was an active member of St. Mary's RC Church,
was a member of the Kingston Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, she was an active volunteer at the Kingston Hospital, was very active in the local chapter of the Parkinson's Support Group, RSVP, Cornell Cooperative extension, and was the recreational director of the Brigham Senior Residence.






She was the mother of John Ambrose and his wife Nora of Albuquerque, NM, Robert E. Ambrose and his wife Annalora of Newburgh, Elizabeth Rosa and her husband Kevin of Saugerties and Gina Ambrose of Kingston, a brother John Fay of Bennington, VT, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.





Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Friends may call on Friday from 2- 4 & 7 - 9. The procession will form on Saturday at 9:15 am and proceed to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church where at 10:00 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.




The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Kingston Hospital Foundation, 396 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.
