Virginia E. Mancuso of West Chester Street, Kingston died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She was 83.
A native and lifelong Kingston resident, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Petromale Guadagnolo. Mrs. Mancuso was a Kingston High School graduate, class of '44. She was a soloist at the Kingston High School Choir under the direction of Leonard Stine.
She married Peter J. Mancuso on May 11, 1947.
A member of the Lyric Chorus, Mrs. Mancuso was the founder of the Mid-Hudson Women's Chorus. She was a wedding and funeral soloist throughout the Hudson Valley and performed family recitals.
For many years she worked with her sister Evelyn Esposito as a hairdresser. A fine seamstress and cook, she traveled extensively with her husband.
Her husband, former Kingston Mayor Peter J. Mancuso died December 14, 1992; two sisters Evelyn Esposito and Julia Carpino both died previously.
Surviving are her son Peter J. Mancuso II and his wife Pauline of Kingston, her daughter Rosemary A. Mancuso of Kingston, one grandson Anthony P. Mancuso and his wife Pattie; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday from 1:00 - 3:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
