Virginia Ackert, 92, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21st, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Mervin and Rebecca Brower, and was a lifelong resident of Kingston. She attended both Public School #7 and Kingston High School. She worked at the former Grant's Store located uptown and also at the Fuller Shirt Factory.
She enjoyed singing and was a soloist for the choir of The First Baptist Church. She also was a Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop Six. Proud of being born on The Fourth of July, she loved parades and going to outdoor concerts. A talented artist, Virginia loved to make humorous, home-made greeting cards for all occasions. Also a talented seamstress, she made and designed most of her own clothing. She also made her own hats and had one for every holiday.
She is predeceased by siblings Ruth, Elnora, and Elwood Brower. She is also predeceased by a loving son, Kenneth Ackert. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Ackert and her other son, David Ackert. She is also survived by a granddaughter Erin Ackert and five great grandchildren, Trinity, Trevor, Tristan, Brock, and Ashton.
