Violet G. Williams, formerly of 42 First Ave., Kingston died Monday, February 16, 2009 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. She was 85.
She was born in Kingston on March 1, 1923, a daughter of the late Clayton and Jeanette Hillis Stalter.
A member of the Ponckhockie Congregational Church, Violet was an avid bowler. She moved to Sterley Ave., Saugerties in 1985.
Her husband Herbert C. Williams died February 2, 1994. Her son in law Donald Schonger died June 15, 2007; one brother Clayton Stalter died previously.
Surviving are one son Richard Williams and his wife Theresa of Saugerties; one daughter Sharon Williams Schonger of Kingston; one sister Genevieve Polacco of Kingston, five grandchildren Stacey and Don Schonger Jr., Richard Todd, Danielle and Joshua Williams; four great grandchildren Brittany and Alexis Schonger, Alyssa Purcell and Nicholas Robles; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 12:00 at the funeral home. Rev. Patricia Zellmer will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
