Viola Haggerty

Viola M. Haggerty (Tuddy), 90 of Kingston, New York passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston. A lifelong Kingstonian, she was the daughter of the late Bernard T. Smith and Ann M. (Houlahan) Smith.  Viola graduated from St. Ursula’s Academy in Kingston and The College of St. Rose with a BSN in Nursing.  She was a school-nurse teacher in the Kingston City School District before her retirement.

She is survived by her children Michael B. Haggerty (Roseanna) of Kingston, Kevin F. Haggerty (Nancy) of New Windsor, Kara A. Haggerty (Gregg) of Kingston and Brian M. Haggerty of Canandaigua, and her four grandchildren Kathryn, Shannon, Molly, and Kara. She is also survived by her fifth Irish Terrier McGee.   She is predeceased by her husband, Martin F. Haggerty.

Arrangements were entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY.  A private Funeral Mass was celebrated by Bishop Dominick J. Lagonegro.  Burial was in Wiltwyck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Irish Terrier Rescue Network at https://www.irishterrierrescuenetwork.org, or the Ulster County SPCA.
