Viola H. Finger, a longtime resident in Hurley Heights, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was 89.
She was born in Astoria, Queens on July 8, 1918, a daughter of the late Archibald Hart and Frieda Weiss Hart Marcks. Mrs. Finger was a bookeeper at Woodstock Packing in Stone Ridge.
She lived in Hurley for over 50 years and recently lived at the Hudson Valley Senior Residence. Mrs. Finger belonged to the Hurley Reformed Church and Hurley Seniors. She founded the Social Solos at Hurley Reformed.
Her husband, Howard R. Finger and daughter Pamela Finger Shelhamer both died previously.
Surviving are two sons Brian Finger and his wife Joan of Thomasville, GA and Alan Finger of Richmond, RI; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two friends Pam Weber and John Gillett.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday, March 6th from 10:30 - 12:00. At 12:00, a funeral home service will be conducted by Rev. Charles Stickley. Interment will be in Hurley Cemetery.
