Vincent Nardi, affectionately known as the "Prince of Cocciglia," passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, in New York. Born in the picturesque village of Cocciglia, Italy, on June 28, 1934, Vincent was the beloved son of Adelson and Fosca Nardi and the proud brother of Leda Fiori. At the age of 12, he immigrated to the United States, where he would go on to build a life filled with love, family, and laughter.
Vincent married the love of his life, Maria Nardi, with whom he shared 65 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they celebrated their anniversary this past August. Their home was a place of constant joy and entertainment, where their hilarious banter kept family and friends in stitches.
Vincent dedicated his early career to serving as a proud police officer for the NYPD, protecting and supporting his community. His entrepreneurial spirit, however, led him in many directions. His business ventures ranged from selling piggy banks at Coney Island, to running a radiator shop in Manhattan with his lifelong friend Louie, owning Boiceville Furniture, operating The Barnside in Kingston, starting La Bella Pasta with his daughter Nanci and son-in law Dennis, and co-owning Maria's Bazaar in Woodstock with his beloved Maria. Even in his later years, he loved waking up early to work with his daughter Lisa and son-in-law Yon at Lucia's Lunchbox at Ametek, where he was known for being a "Boss," overseeing operations, and entertaining customers with his sharp wit.
A devoted father, Vincent was endlessly proud of his three daughters, Nanci Covello (and Dennis Covello), Lisa Nardi (and Yon Spencer) and Carolyn Nardi. His greatest joy was his role as a grandfather to nine grandchildren, Endi, Dante, Rossella, and Lucia Nardi, Nico and Bianca Covello, Marlo and Vincent Lamonte, and Jesse Larsen. He never missed a single school event or sports game, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren.
Vincent was a man of many passions. Whether it was attending games and events for his grandchildren, sharing drinks with loved ones, sports betting with his buddy Mike, or sharing a meal with Smitty and his lifelong friends, he approached life with a sense of humor and an open heart. His ability to make others laugh and feel at ease was unmatched, and he will forever be remembered for his captivating stories and infectious personality. Vincent Nardi's legacy is one of genuine connection, unwavering authenticity, and joyful laughter, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Overlook United Methodist Church, located at 233 Tinker Street, Woodstock NY. All who knew and loved Vincent are welcome to attend and share in remembering a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vincent's name can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
