Vincent 'Jimmy' Altieri of Tiger Maple Lane, Saugerties died quietly on Sunday morning, January 8, 2006 at Kingston Hospital. He was 87.
He was born in Manhattan on August 22, 1918, a son of the late Dominic and Grace Ottomana Altieri. Mr. Altieri was raised in Brooklyn and, in 1938, moved to Rosendale.
A US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Altieri served with the 17th Infantry Regional regiment at Camp Onyang, Korea.
On August 26, 1961 he married Gloria Tabacchi. Mr. Altieri was a longtime partner of the original Sportsman Park in Rosendale. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, Rosendale for over 50 years.
A member of the International Local #17, in 1965 he joined the firm of Graves & Rodgers Liquor Co. as a salesman. He retired in 1990.
One brother Frank Altieri and two sisters Millie Tanico and Anna Balbo all died previously.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 45 years are one daughter Valerie Tanner and her husband Craig of McLean, VA; one son Vincent and his wife Michelle of Saugerties; three beloved grandchildren Lindsay and Daniel Tanner and Ashley Altieri; one sister Mary McGuire of Wethersfield, CT; many beloved nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Glasco at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights.
