Vincent J. Schatzel of Rogers St., Port Ewen died unexpectedly on January 31, 2005 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was 71.
He was born in Kingston on November 20, 1933, a son of the late Raymond and Margaret Coffey Schatzel. Vince served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
For 36 years he was employed by I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie and Kingston as an analyst. A member of the Quarter Century Club, he retired in 1991. He also belonged to the Kingston I.B.M. Club.
Vince moved to Kingston in 1958. A past president of the St. Peter's Parish Coucil, he attended St. Mary's Church.
Two brothers George and Thomas Schatzel both died previously.
Surviving are his wife Gloria Alecca Schatzel; two daughters Cheryl Prochera and her husband Robert of Taghkanic; Kim Muffley and her husband Tim of Plymouth, Mass.; three sisters Mary Ann Van Wagnen and Helene Sorg, both of Kingston and Agnes Butler of Jacksonville, Florida; three brothers Donald, Gerald and Henry Schatzel, all of Kingston; one granddaughter Ashley Prochera; three brother in laws John, Charles and Thomas Alecca; two sister in laws Marie McHale and Elizabeth Amundsen; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue on Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
