Vincent J. "Babe" Provenzano

June 20, 1929 — July 21, 2009

Vincent J. "Babe" Provenzano, 80, of Gurney Street, Port Ewen, NY, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Benedictine Hospital. He was born June 20, 1929 in Glasco, NY to the late Antonio and Julia Manfro Provenzano.




He was married to the late Lorraine VanKleeck Provenzano, Lorraine died on July 3, 1984.




Mr. Provenzano had been a heavy equipment operator primarily driving trucks for Teamsters local #445 of Newburgh. He retired in 1983 and went to work in the family business Good Time Ceramics of Port Ewen. At one time he had been an avid bowler. He had enjoyed hunting and was well known for creating unusual projects. He also loved being with his friends at Smitty's Store in Port Ewen. He had been a parishioner of Presentation RC Church.




He is survived by his son Vincent J. Provenzano, Jr., and his wife Jo Ann of St. Remy, NY, granddaughter Jennifer Hewitt and her husband John Paul, Colonie, grandson Vincent Provenzano, III, St. Remy, NY, great grandson Collin J. Hewitt, Colonie, brothers Salvatore Provenzano, Hopewell Junction, NY, Albert Provenzano, VA, sisters Clara Weeks, Saugerties, NY, Theresa Ghezzi, Kingston, NY, Francis "Bunny" Tiano, Lake Katrine, NY, and Mary Ferrine, Kingston, NY. Brother of the late Julia Buono.




Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, where the procession will form on Friday at 9:15 am and proceed to Presentation R.C. Church where at 10 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.




Burial in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
