Vern Trafford Haskell, 89, of Olivebridge, NY, formerly of Saratoga County, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 22nd. He was born September 11, 1924 in Groton, VT, the son of the late George and Vesta (Carpenter) Haskell. He was the husband of the late Doris Haskell.
Vern was a graduate of Groton High School and a graduate of Moody Bible Institute Evening School in Chicago, IL. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Vern was the mail room manager at Schenectady Trust, now Trustco, and was a Baptist minister, serving the congregations at East Wallingford Baptist Church in VT and Galway Bible Baptist Church in Galway, NY. His favorite hobbies were gardening and reading his Bible.
Vern is survived by his daughters, Deborah A. Schledwitz and her husband Ken of Fort Collins, CO, Laurel L. Rhodes and her husband David of Lynchburg, VA, Priscilla J. Kenyon and her husband Rick of Galway, NY, and Rebecca R. Papierniak and her husband Ken of Olivebridge, NY, his brother, Kent Haskell and his wife Joan of Groton, VT, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Glen, Joyce, Guy, Shirley, Fay, and Earl.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY, 12401, where friends may call on Sunday December 29th from 2 - 5pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday December 30th at 11am at Vly-Atwood Evangelical Fellowship Church, 420 Scarawan Rd, Stone Ridge, NY 12484. Burial will follow in Tongore Cemetery, Olivebridge, NY.
