Vera Jane Birdsall

Vera Jane Birdsall, 82, of Town of Ulster, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at home. She was born December 17, 1931 in Newburgh to Daniel and Gladys (Brown) Ryan. She was married to David A. Birdsall, they wed on April 9th, 1950. David passed away on January 16th, 1976.


Vera worked for the Ulster County Office of the Aging in the Nutrition Program for many years. She loved the outdoors, hiking, cooking, her beloved pets, and enjoyed taking care of other people. Her greatest joy was her family especially her grandchildren.


Vera is survived by her daughters, Diane Missasi and her husband Anthony of Saugerties, Eileen Stier of Poughkeepsie, her grandchildren, Rebecca and Philip Missasi and Kaitlin, Danielle, Aaron, and Gabriel Stier, her brother, Robert Ryan, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her daughter Jane Birdsall and her grandson Anthony D. Missasi.


Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston, where friends may call on Friday January 10th from 4 - 8 pm and on Saturday January 11th from 9 - 10am with the service starting at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Thomas of Canterbury Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.
