Valarie Val Davis, age 57, of Greenkill Ave, Kingston died Friday, March 14, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston. Mrs. Davis was born February 28, 1951 at Manhattan, NY the daughter of the late Pearl Hunter Hill and her late step father David Hill.
Val graduate from Kingston High School and went to work for the Benedictine Hospital, working as a dietician for 38 years. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church on Catherine Street, she had taught Sunday school at church. She had been and avid bowler, having been in several leagues, she received numerous trophies for high triple, championship team and high average. She had been a den mother with the cub scouts and was active with the boy scouts and the girl scouts. She was an avid Kingston sports fan, following little league, basketball leagues, and following the Kingston High School schedules. She enjoyed music, in particular Gospel music and walking.
She is survived by her loving sons Omar Herbert of Kingston, NY, Orlando Herbert of Kingston, NY, her best friend Norman Herbert of Kingston, beloved brothers Clarence Hunter of Kingston, NY, Dennis Harrison of Augusta, GA, her loving sisters: Jimmie Evans Hymes of Albany, NY, Linette Pearl of VA, Esther Hancock of CT, Chanise Evans of Kingston, NY, Margaret Marable - Knox of Kingston, NY and dear grandson, Amari Herbert and a aunt, Ruth Ann Hunter of Detroit, MI, grandmother of the late Orlando Herbert, Jr A host of nieces, nephews, cousins aunts and uncles
A Homegoing Service will be held at the Riverview Baptist Church, 240 Catherine Street, Kingston on Thursday at 11 am The family will receive their friends Wednesday from 7 - 9 pm at Riverview Baptist Church, the Rev. Harold Jolley, officiating. Burial will be in Montrepose Cemetery
