Thomas Wright Burdett Maines of East Chester St., Kingston died Monday, November 21, 2005 at the Kingston Hospital. He was 70.
A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was a son of the late Alexander F. and Lugarda A. Freer Maines.
Tom served in the US Navy from 1953 - 1957. He belonged to the Cee Bees.
On April 13, 1958 he married Marion Resso.
Upon his return he worked as a surveyor for the NYS Conservation Department in Northville, NY. He then founded Thomas Maines Licensed Land Survey in Kingston.
From 1978 - 1994 he worked for the Kingston Professional Fire Department as a dispatcher at Central Station.
A licensed pilot, Tom frequently flew out of Kingston Airport. A five-year heart transplant survivor, Tom belonged to the Mended Hearts Chapter 310, Albany.
A convert to Catholicism, Tom was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Churh, Kingston. He was an avid outdoorman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His daughter Cheryl Maines Galvin died December 5, 1997.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years are one daughter Kathleen Maines Kane of Kingston and her husband Patrick K.; his son in law Brian P. Galvin Sr.; one sister Barbara Humphries of Lady Lake, Florida, one uncle Robert L. Maines Sr. of Port Ewen, one grandson Brian P. Galvin Jr., several nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be on Saturday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barlclay Heights.
