Thomas S. Forcino, 87, of Kingston, died Friday, June 27, 2014 at Ten Broeck Commons.
Born in Wappingers Falls, he was a son of the late Pasquale & Carmella Gesondi Forcina. Tom was a loyal and proud veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He enlisted at the age of 17 and fought in the pacific theater on board the ships, USS Oakland and the USS Hopewell. He was instrumental in the opening of the Sampson World War II Navy Veterans Memorial Museum. Tom had an excellent singing voice and sang at all of the family weddings.
He was a member of the Catskill Glee Club, St. Joseph's Choir, Mount Carmel Choir and played trumpet in the Mount Carmel Drum Club. He retired from IBM in 1986 after 34 years andreceived the DSD achievement award.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Costello Forcino of Kingston, whom he married on October 3, 1954, two sisters, Jennie Cervone and Mary Gunn, both of Poughkeepsie and his best buddies, John LaFalce of Phoenix, AZ and Pat Bounfiglio of Saugerties. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Tom will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 2-5 PM.
The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Monday at 9:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, Kingston.
Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery.
