Thomas M. Caffrey, Jr., 75, of Hurley, NY, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017. He was born December 30, 1941 in Kingston, PA to the late Thomas and Jessie Caffrey. Tom was married to Carol (Shann) Caffrey, from June 1, 1968 until her passing in 2004.
He attended Lackawanna College in Scranton, PA, and later worked for IBM for over 35 years. He loved to fish, mostly at the Ashokan Reservoir and Esopus Creek, and was most recently the Treasurer of the Rip Van Winkle Rider's motorcycle group.
Tom is survived by his son, Sean Caffrey and his wife Judy of Kingston, his sister, Patricia Blankenship of Hagerstown, MD, grandchildren, Brittin and Jason Caffrey, and Nicholas Jefferson, his niece, Heather Russell, and his nephew, Derek Russell. In addition to his wife and parents he is predeceased by his niece, Kelly. He made a difference in the lives of many; friends, neighbors, family, and our lives were better for having known him.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Wednesday February 15 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home with burial following in Hurley Cemetery, Hurley.
