Theresa Kouhoupt, 88, a longtime resident of Kingston, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 19,
2022 at HealthAlliance Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Lancaster, NY, she was a daughter of the late Vincent & Nicolina Rossano Lasher.
Theresa enjoyed dancing and, in her youth, often traveled to NYC to dance on stage. She met the
love of her life, Kenneth Kouhoupt in Kingston High School. It was love at first sight. They
married in 1954 and quickly started a family. Her greatest joy were their 5 beautiful children.
Theresa co-owned and operated “Ken’s Grocery” on Colonial Drive and “Frank’s Market” on
Delaware Avenue from 1975 to 1984.
Theresa lived for her family and loved family gatherings. She loved the Christmas holiday and
would start decorating for Christmas in October, putting one decoration out at a time to see if
anyone would notice. Theresa enjoyed the gift of giving and always gave so much.
Theresa is survived by her five children, Kenneth F. Kouhoupt and his wife Susan of Kingston,
Karen Aubel and her husband Thomas of Ulster Park, Kevin Kouhoupt and his wife, Kim of Port
Ewen, Kim Hart and her husband, Jerry of Apex, NC and Keith Kouhoupt and his partner,
Melissa Morgan of Kingston, six grandchildren, Kristen Phillips, Shannon Staiger, Kerrie Lynn
Walters, Thomas Aubel, Matthew Aubel and Kenneth Kouhoupt, seven great grandchildren,
Brady, Brandon, Rosalie, Giovanni, Zachary, Kaylee, and Audriana.
In addition to her mother Nicolina Lasher, Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth
Kouhoupt and her brother, Vincent Lasher.
