Theo "Ted" W. Schacklinscky, 77, of Kingston, NY, died suddenly Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his residence. He was born June 15, 1936 in Port Chester, NY the son of the late Edward and Martha (Melling) Schacklinscky.
He was the husband of the late Barbara (Grainger) Schacklinscky; she passed away on February 1, 2009.
Ted was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School, class of 1954 and SUNY Farmingdale, class of 1956, where he received his Associates Degree in Building Construction. He was a veteran of the US Army Corps of Engineers and served in the North African Desert. Ted was a Project Engineer before retiring in 1998 for Bank Brothers Plumbing & Heating.
He had been Mayor of the village of Red Hook for 4 years and had served as trustee of the village for 8 years. He was a Life Member of the Red Hook Fire Company, where he served as Chief. He had been a member of Apawamis Masonic Lodge F & AM and he attended the Wednesday morning Men's breakfast at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and volunteered at the Tourism Caboose, Fireman's Museum and RSVP, all in Kingston.
He is survived by his son, Ted Schacklinscky of Hightstown, NJ, a daughter, Claire O'Connell of Germantown, four grandchildren, a great grandson, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother Roger Schacklinscky.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. An inurnment service will take place at Wiltwyck Cemetery Masoluem on Friday June 21st 2013 at 1pm.
