Terrie Rosenblum

July 31, 1940 — November 17, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Terrie Irene Rosenblum announces her passing on November 17, 2024.

Terrie was born on July 31, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY. A lifelong learner and advocate for education, she graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, studied art and philosophy at NYU, and earned a Master's degree in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz. For 31 years, she was a beloved teacher and a driving force in the Saugerties Teachers Association. She retired from teaching in 1996, and her dedication to her students and her colleagues left an enduring legacy.

Terrie will be forever remembered by her loving wife of 63 years, Fran Breitkopf; her son, David (Marcia); her grandchildren Rachel (Caleb), Daniel (Amanda), and great-grandson Samuel; and a wide circle of friends and colleagues.

Terrie and her family moved to Woodstock in the 1960's and she began weaving herself into the fabric of the town's spirit and community. Terrie's passion for helping others was evident in the deep friendships she cultivated and her tireless service to numerous organizations. Her compassion, determination, and vision left an indelible mark on her family, friends, students, and the community. She served on the boards of the Woodstock Artists Association, the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Art, the Ulster County Democratic Women, the Ulster County Democratic Committee, SUNY New Paltz, the Woodstock Recreation Committee, the Woodstock Planning Board, and Temple Emanuel. She was also the Woodstock Town Board Deputy Supervisor, Chair of the Woodstock Democratic Committee, and played key roles in various town projects.

Terrie found joy in the simple and profound: she cherished moments with her loved ones, vacationing in Maine, and exploring the world through travel. She loved sharing her passion for Star Trek, and embodied the spirit of deep space discovery and adventure. Life was an adventure to Terrie, and those who had the privilege of knowing her delighted in sharing the journey.

She was a dynamo-fiercely intelligent, authentic, and sharp-witted, with a wry sense of humor and a heart that embraced everyone she met. Her passing is an immeasurable loss, but she would want us to rise above our sorrow, find humor in our memories, and celebrate her extraordinary life. Terrie's legacy of compassion, humor, and service to others will live on in the lives she touched.

A private service has been held, and a celebration of Terrie's life will take place at a later date to be announced. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hudson Valley Hospice, or the Town of Saugerties Animal Shelter.
