Sunrise, Florida – Sylvia Jacobs, formerly of Kingston, died Wednesday, September 03, 2003 at Sunrise Health Care Center, Sunrise, Florida. She was 89.
She was born in New York City on April 7, 1914, a daughter of the late Abraham and Anna Schacter Wieselthier. Mrs. Jacobs married Louis Larry Jacobs on May 30, 1936.
A Kingston resident since 1939, Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Congregation Ahavath Israel and it’s Sisterhood. She belonged to B’nai Brith and Hadassah.
A Florida resident since 1975, she lived in Pompano Beach and then Sunrise.
Beloved wife of Louis Larry Jacobs, Cantor Emeritus of Congregation Ahavath Israel; loving mother of Dr. Henry Jacobs and his wife Sheila, Arlene Harris and her husband Robert; sister of Max Wieselthier, Elinor Kaplan, Hannah Rotner and the late Eve Lieberman, Jacob, Irving and Harry Wieselthier; grandmother of Dr. Andrea Singer and her husband Eric, David Jacobs and his wife Carole; Michael Harris his fiancé Heather Birnbaum, and the late Jill Harris; great grandmother of Marissa, Joshua and Jordon Singer, Alexander, Drew and Paige Jacobs. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 3:00 PM at Congregation Ahavath Israel, Lucas Ave., Kingston. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Shiva will be observed at the Harris residence in Wappingers Falls on Mon - Wed.
