Steven Robert Svec

Steven R. Svec, 57, of Forrest Drive, Port Ewen, NY, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston, NY after a short battle with cancer. He was born January 12, 1951 in New York City, to the late Robert J. and Anna Heinze Svec.

He was a graduate of Corning - Painted Post West High School, class of 1969. He served in the US Army from 1975 until his retirement in 1995. He attained the rank of Sergeant 1st Class; he served at Fort Knox, and at Peekskill, Kingston and Poughkeepsie with the 156th Field Artillery. After his retirement he was the owner and operator of a transport company. He enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Ann Beaty Svec, daughters, Stefanie M. Tucker and her husband Ray of Saugerties, NY, Shannon L. Svec of Alexandria, VA, a sister, Barbara Vogt of Painted Post, NY and a granddaughter, Natalie Tucker, a nephew and several nieces

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, where services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am, Deacon Hank Smith, officiating.

Friends may call on Friday, August 1, from 2- 4 & 7 - 9.
