Stephen "Pat" Doonan, 101, a longtime resident of Kingston, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at his home.
Born in the Corona section of Queens, he was a son of the late James & Mary Wallace Doonan. He was a veteran of the US Army for 25 years, having served from 1940-1965. He then worked for the NYS Bridge Authority from 1967 until his retirement in 1977. He was a Parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, a Life Member of the American Legion Post #150; a Life Member of Joyce Schirick Post 1386 VFW, a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Ulster County YMCA, and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, division #1, Ulster County.Pat also enjoyed horseracing.
Pat is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Pat was predeceased by his wife Henrietta Weyant Doonan, who passed in 1992, five brothers, James W., Lawrence F., Gerald G., Gregory D. and Francis K. Doonan.
Pat will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 4-6 PM. The Joyce Schirick Post 1386 VFW and the American Legion Post #150 will conduct a service at 5:45 PM.
The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Friday at 9:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church.
Interment with military honors by the Joyce Schirick Post 1386 VFW and The American Legion Post #150 will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
