Stephen J. Hack, 80, of Kingston, NY went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, March 27th with his loving family by his side.
Stephen was born on February 26, 1932 in Paterson, NJ., the son of the late Stephen and Mary Hack. After high school, he attended Purdue University in Indiana where he earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Later he attended Babson College in Massachusetts earning his MBA while coaching the tennis team. He proudly served in the United Stated Army from 1955 1957.
Stephen married the love of his life, Kathleen Watts, on October 19, 1968 in Albany, NY. He was the loving father of four who enjoyed vacationing with his wife in Cape May, NJ. and with his entire family in Wildwood, NJ. He worked for IBM in Kingston and Poughkeepsie for 34 years as a financial analyst. He was a member of IBM's Quarter Century Club, the Knights of Columbus and Saint Joseph's Church in Kingston.
Stephen was an avid tennis player and golfer. He enjoyed cheering for his alma mater, Purdue. The most important thing in Stephen's life was his family. He could often be found playing blocks in the family room and baseball in the back yard with his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his children's and grand children's school, dance and sporting events.
After retirement, he did what he loved most, making pancakes for his grandchildren.
He is survived by Kathleen, his wife of 43 years and his four children: Stephen J. Hack, Jr. and his wife Colleen of Kingston, Deborah Van Anden and her husband Robert of Queensbury, NY, Mary Kelly and her husband Cary of Wilmette, IL and Lorraine Keimel and her husband Christopher of Niskayuna. He is survived by nine adoring grandchildren: Sarah, Julia, Bradley, William, Kristin, Jeffrey, Nathan, Katie and Bret. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Stephen is predeceased by his brother, Joseph Hack and his sister, Amy Lochrane.
The Hack family will receive family and friends at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. The funeral procession will form on Saturday from the funeral home at 9:15 AM, for a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
