Stephen Gerard Claus

Stephen Gerard Claus, 64, of East Meadow, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. He was born October 31, 1957 in Astoria, NY, son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Glossza) Claus.

He was a graduate of Mineola High School and later received his Bachelors degree from CW Post University. Steve worked as a New York State Trooper, stationed first at Troop F, then Troop T and finally Troop L. He served as a first responder at 9/11 through his work with the NY State Police. After over 22 years of service as a Trooper, Steve retired. Following retirement and to keep busy, Steve held various jobs including school bus driver and drivers ed instructor.

Steve is survived by his children, Erin Claus and her husband Shoji Miyazawa and their daughter Hana of Kingston, Alex Claus and Matt Claus, both of Cibolo, TX, his former wife, Lori Sackett of Cibolo, TX, his brothers, Michael Claus, Thomas Claus and his wife Colleen, and Andrew Claus and his wife Christine, his sister-in-law, Annmarie Claus, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Steve is predeceased by his brother John Claus.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 11am to 12pm. The funeral service will follow at 12pm. Inurnment will take place in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
