Shirley Greenberg formerly of Freeport, Long Island, died Saturday evening at Golden Hill Health Care Facility. She was 83.
She was born in Brooklyn on September 19, 1921, a daughter of the late Charles and Sophie Kornbluth Stern. She married Murray S. Greenberg in the Bronx and then moved to Freeport, Long Island.
For many years Shirley worked as a secretary at the NYS Office Building in Hempstead. She retired in 1985.
A former member of B'Nai Brith and Hadassah, Shirley moved to Stony Run Apartments, Kingston several years ago.
Shirley's husband died in January of 1970; her son Harvey Greenberg died in 2000, one sister Roslyn Cherkis and one brother Irwin Stern both died previously.
Surviving are one daughter Laura Storch and her husband Mark of Shokan, one son Steven Greenberg and his wife Deborah of Sag Harbor; Harvey's wife, Susan Greenberg of Massapequa; six grandchildren Lily and Julien Greenberg, Jenny and Craig Storch, Melissa and Adam Greenberg; one great grandson Joshua Greenberg, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be in Cedar Park Cemetery, Westwood, NJ Wednesday, 11:00 am.
