Shirley L. Armstrong, who sadly departed this life on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 7:00 AM, was the beloved daughter of the late Jean Clark and Lazarus Sims of Kingston, NY. Born on December 3, 1936, Shirley is predeceased by her husband, John D. Armstrong, Sr., her brother John Clark of Philadelphia, PA, her cousin Herbert Davis Sr. of Utahville, her sister Emily Lawson of Kingston, NY, Aunt Hattie Pagan and her grandchild Bryan Armstrong, Jr., as well as her great-grandchild Jabrya Armstrong.

She is survived by her sister Barbara Sims of Utica, NY, her sister Jenny Kithcart of Kingston, NY, her brother-in-law George Kithcart, and her cherished children: Bryant Armstrong, Sonya McDole-Armstrong, Sylvia Armstrong-Edmond, Shelia Armstrong, and John D. Armstrong, Jr.

Shirley was a proud grandmother to Tyra Costello, Stephen Costello, Mya Armstrong, Joey Howard, Coleman Edmond, Jordon Edmond, Shaquille Armstrong, Mercedes McDole, Deon Edmond, Jamison D. Armstrong, Madison M. Armstrong, Jamel Wiggins, Gavin Chase, and Briana Chase. She also adored her great-grandchildren: Devin Costello, Nevaeh Gipson, Amiya Howard, Amora Howard, and Eli Joseph Chase, Elle Costello.

Born and raised in Kingston, NY, Shirley graduated from Kingston High School and dedicated over 30 years to her career at IBM. In addition to her professional life, she volunteered at the YWCA of Kingston, providing support to migrant workers.

Some of her most cherished memories were made during her weekly breakfast gatherings with friends, where she would celebrate each holiday with a unique theme. Her friends lovingly referred to her as the leader of Kingston's very own "Golden Girls Breakfast Club."

Shirley L. Armstrong will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10am to 12pm.
