Sherry Lynn Gaunt, 62, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2022 at Northside Hospital Gwinnett, surrounded by her loving family. Sherry was born on February 2, 1960 to Charles I. Gaunt and Joan Brown Gaunt in Kingston, NY.
Sherry started working for General Motors Tarrytown, NY in 1985 and retired in 2018, serving 33 years of dedicated service. Through her perseverance and tenacity she accomplished the following:
1st Female Benefit Plans Representative for United Auto Workers (UAW), Local 10 in Doraville, Georgia.
Honored by Local 10 Civil Rights Committee.
Received award from Leadership for Outstanding Dedication and Commitment to UAW.
Elected to serve on UAW local 1714 Executive board as Trustee.
Elected 1st Woman Vice President in 42 year history of UAW Local 1714.
Honored by A. Phillp Randolph "Trumbell County chapter "
In addition, Sherry was awarded several rewards for her accomplishments and services for her long dedicated union and civil rights activities.
Sherry loved to dance back in the day and could hustle her way through any dance floor showing off her skills! She loved the neighborhood she grew up in and had the same friends all her life.
Sherry loved spending time vacationing with her family at Disney World in Orlando, FL. Her favorite Disney theme park was Animal Kingdom. She loved spending time with her cat, Derek Jeter. Sherry was a very loving and caring soul who would do anything for her family and friends.
Sherry is predeceased by her father, Charles I. Gaunt and her brother, Kevin A. Brown. She is survived by her mother, Joan Brown Gaunt, her daughter, Jamie Brightharp and her husband, Kendall, her son, Eillott Youngblood III and his wife, Mary, her beautiful grandkids, Justin, Kendall Lynn, Selena, Sunny and Savanh, her siblings, Carl J. Brown his wife, Christine, Denise J. Gaunt, Charles I. Gaunt and his wife, Terry, Mark J. Gaunt and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Thursday November 17, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will take place at 10am on Friday November 18, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, NY.
