Sheila Matteo

Sheila Carey Matteo, wife of the late James Matteo died on 12 November 2024 following a brief illness at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the Hon. Eugene B. Carey, former Mayor of Kingston and Katharine Diamond Carey.

She is survived by her sons, James (Suchada), Thomas, Mark, and the late Eugene James, grandson Angelo, stepdaughters Sandra Weir (Jim) and Joyce Michaud.

She was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1947 and Edgewood Park Jr. College, class of 1949 at Briarcliff Manor, New York. She was a member of the Hurley Seniors and a former member of the Jr. League of Kingston.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 10am to 11am followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, NY 12401 at 12pm, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 322 Foxhall Ave., Kingston.  A tribute for Sheila can be found at www.KeyserFuneralService.com, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family.
