Sharon Alice Cunningham, 72, formally of Saugerties, passed away on Wednesday January 6, 2021 from cardiac arrest at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Clinton J. and Francis McCagg.
She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Always willing to lend help to whoever needed it. As a testament to her caring nature, after achieving her LPN, she went on to work many years at Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie N.Y. She had a zest for a life and focused on the beauty of God’s creation, of those creations she had a special place in her heart for animals, using any extra money she had in donation to various animal charities. Sharon was a soul that touched many lives and she will be sorely missed by those that new her well.
Sharon is survived by her son Michael McCagg and Karin Williams, of Red Hook, and former husband James Cunningham, Grandchildren Nathaniel McCagg, Skylar Pagano and Great Grandchild Adelaide.
Her four sisters Janet Petsas and husband Jimmy, Darleen McCagg, Gloria Wirhowski and husband Victor, Betty Jean Temple and husband Alan.
In addition to Sharon’s parents, she is deceased by her brother Clinton McCagg.
Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home is honored to assist the family of Sharon with the arrangements.
