Sandra Samelson

Sandra Samelson of Skytop, Town of Ulster died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Lenox Hill Hospital. She was 53. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 27, 1956 a daughter of the late Sylvan N. and Vivian Tepper Samelson. Formerly of Pittsburgh, she received her Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. She moved to this area in 1990. Dr. Samelson was an associate mathematics professor at SUNY New Paltz. With a grant, from 1997 - 1999, Dr. Samelson worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California. She married Ron Sigal on August 25, 1999. In addition to her husband, she is survived by several cousins. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. Cantor Robert Cohen will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
