Samuel Parker Ballantine, 87, of Kingston, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck. He was born January 11, 1924 in Brooklyn, the son of the late George A. and Elizabeth Ballantine.
He was the husband of Shirley Pratt Ballantine; they wed on September 11, 1954. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during WW II, in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
He had been employed by EG & G Rotron as a model maker for 33 until his retirement in 1986.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Roger D. Ballantine and his wife Karen of Catskill Douglas P. Ballantine of New Paltz and a grandson Zachary D. Ballantine of New Paltz and a sister Claire McKecknie, Columbia. SC.
He was predeceased by his siblings William Ballantine, Allan Ballantine, Mary Maines, Gladys Moreno and Adelaide Olsen
Mr. Ballantine was a charter member and a very active member of the Grace Community Church, served on the Town of Ulster Library Board, he loved the outdoors, camping, motorcycle riding, tennis and chess.
A memorial service will be held at the Grace Community Church, 160 Seremma Court, Lake Katrine, on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Grace Community Church, PO Box 720, Lake Katrine, NY 12449. Light a candle in memory of "Sam" at
