Salvatore C. "Sam" Romano, 90, a longtime resident of Kingston, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Joseph & Marie Carano Romano. Sam was a retired auto mechanic who worked in various shops throughout Kingston. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, western movies and big band music.
Sam is survived by his wife, Nancy Cutuli Romano of Kingston, three daughters, Barbara A. Romano of Orlando, FL, Phyllis M. Cherny of Tucson, AZ, Jacqueline M. Romano of Reston, VA., one daughter in law, Darlene Brightenstein, six grandchildren, Jodi, Maria, Billy, Angela, Renai and Alexandra, ten great grandchildren, Ilana, Madison, Brenden, Seth, Felicity, Evelyn, Tristan, Morgan, Makenzie and Miranda. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by a son, Joseph M. Romano, two brothers, Frank Romano, John Romano and one sister, Theresa Perri.
Sam will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church.
Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
