Sadie Friedman, 91, formerly of Kerhonkson, N.Y., passed away peacefully, Sunday May 25, 2014 at home with her family at her bedside in Hurley, NY. She was born February 12, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sam and Dora (Starkman) Dunn. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended Brooklyn College before marrying her beloved husband, Nathan Friedman. Sadie moved with her husband, Nate, to Kerhonkson in 1952 where they owned and operated The Brookside Hotel for over 40 years. Throughout her life, Sadie was active in her community as a dedicated volunteer for many organizations. She continued her community service throughout her retirement. Sadie was devoted to her family and many friends. She led her Senior Citizens group for many years, enjoying theater, travel, and politics, writing many enthusiastic letters to editors of her local newspapers promoting support of a progressive agenda to improve the lives of all people. Sadie is survived by her children, Barry and Linda Friedman of Boynton Beach FL, Richard and Ann Friedman of Bedford NH, Suzanne and Michael Jordan of Hurley, NY, Tim Farris of Lovettsville, VA; her grandchildren Jeffery Friedman of Hollywood FL, Jonathan Friedman of Parkland, FL, Dana Friedman of Boynton Beach, FL, Beth Friedman and Sherri Bisci of West Newbury, MA, Benjamin Jordan, and his fiance, Colleen Ferry of Kingston, NY, Dylan Jordan of Hurley, NY and Samantha Farris of Silver Spring, MD; her great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Max Friedman of Parkland, FL, Mya Friedman of Boynton Beach, FL, and Ryleigh Jordan of Kingston, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Nathan, and parents, she is predeceased by her daughter, Whendi Farris and her brother, Hyman Dunn. Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. There will be a funeral service on Thursday, beginning at 10AM at the Kerhonkson Jewish Center on Minnewaska Trail, Kerhonkson, with burial to follow in the Kerhonkson Jewish Cemetery on Boice Mill Road in Kerhonkson. The family will host a celebration of her life at the Jewish Center following the burial. Shiva will be observed on Friday afternoon and Sunday at the home of Suzanne and Michael, 231 Old Route 209, Hurley, NY In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kerhonkson Jewish Synagogue, P.O.
