Sadie Blinder, formerly of Coffey Place, Kingston, died April 7, 2006 at her daughter's residence in Vienna, Virginia. She was 94.
She was born in New York City on March 5, 1912, a daughter of the late Harry and Pauline Rubin Chichelsky. Raised in Kerhonkson, she moved to Kingston in 1924.
After Kingston High School, Mrs. Blinder, at age 17, worked at the Chick Shop, Ladies Ready to Wear and Blinder's Ladies Apparel. She then worked as a saleslady at Montgomery Wards.
A member of Congregation Agudas Achim and the Sisterhood. Mrs. Blinder was a founding member of Young at Heart, Kingston. She moved to Rockville, Maryland in 1998.
Her husband Jacob Blinder died May 31, 1973.
Surviving are her daughter Anne Gorenstein and her husband Alan of Vienna, Virginia, her son Norman Blinder and his wife Randy of Lawrence, NY; her grandchildren Michael and Paul Harris, Yehuda, Yaacov, Moshe and Yissachar Blinder and Pesha ben-Ami; sister of the late Minnie Cohen, Frieda Prentis, Jacob, George and Isadore Chichelsky; and aunt of Harvey Cohen. 18 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 12:30 at Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Rabbi Yitzcok Hecht will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
