Ruth Pearson, 97, of Rosendale, died Friday, March 12, 2021 at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, NY of natural causes.

Born on October 5th, 1923, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, as Ethel Ruth Gettig, she was the daughter of the late Donald Ulrich Gettig and Roxie Crosthwaite Gettig.

Ruth was a graduate of Trinity High School in Washington, Pennsylvania and audited classes at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine medical school in Cincinnati, Ohio. For many years, she worked as a medical secretary and physician’s assistant, very much enjoying both the administrative and human aspects of her job caring for patients. She loved painting, waterskiing, parasailing, snorkeling, cooking, travel, gardening, and her many pets and rescue animals. She was a longtime resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Las Vegas, Nevada with a large circle of friends in both areas.

Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Margileth and her husband Ned Leavitt of Rosendale, Aliss Terrell and her husband François Monfeuga of Paris, France, three grandchildren, Matthew, Valentine and Ivan, two great-grandchildren, Viviana and Felix, her stepson Ron Pearson, his wife Suzi Pearson and their family.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Eugene R. “Jimmie” Pearson, her sisters Alice Jane Roche and Barbara DeRose, and her brothers Richard L. Gettig and Donald Gettig Jr.

A ceremony will be held privately. Family and friends will be contacted for an online memorial.
