Russell Maggio

Russell Maggio, 73, of Lake Katrine, died Thursday, October 1, 2015 at his home. Born in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Gaspere & Rose Canino Maggio. Russell was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, boating, camping, hiking and cooking. Russell was adventurous and humorous. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a true and good friend and had a tremendous amount of support from his cousins, Russell, Nicholas and Gigi. Russell is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maria Tirado of Lake Katrine, whom he married on June 30, 1974, three sons, Russell Maggio and his wife Akiko of NY, NY, Jason Maggio and his wife, Bonnie of NY, NY, Joseph Maggio of Lake Katrine, one brother, Anthony Maggio of Edgewater, FL, one sister, Joann LaChance and her husband Pierre of Glendale, AZ, two step sisters, Anna Maggio of Arecibo, Puerto Rico and Estrellita Maggio of North Hollywood, FL, one grandson, Jason Paul Maggio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Russell will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 12:00 to 3:30 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
