Kingston NY- Rosemarie Torres was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, cousin, and friend to many. In Rosemarie's 59 years on this earth she touched so many lives and helped many in need. On Wednesday April 19 at 1:45 PM Rosemarie went on to be with our lord and savor and her father Luis Torres, her brother Luis Torres JR., her son Ralph Santiago, grandparents Luis and Manuela Diaz, Aurora Colon-Madonado and Teodoroa Torres-Colon.
Rosemarie was born in the Bronx 1957 and moved with her family to Plattekill NY in 1969. She attended Wallkill High School where she graduated from. Rosemarie loved to sing, read, travel and enjoy family. Rosemarie volunteered in central park and worked security and the Aids Walk Fundraiser, volunteered in NYC homeless shelters was a translator (Spanish) and advocate for Hispanics. Rosemarie was a Jane of all trades and a master of a few she gave it her all and was always willing to learn.
Rosemarie leaves behind her mother Carmen Torres, daughter Asia Santiago, granddaughters Tianie Santiago, Carmae Johnson, Sydney Santiago, Sophia Santiago. Grandson Micah Santiago, great-grandson Isaiah Muldrow. Brother Ralph Calderon, sisters Nancy Reyes-Torres, Samantha Kelly, and Daughter-in Law Adena Santiago. Nephew: Emil Calderon, Gabriel Calderon, Joshua Kelly, Nieces: Arcadia Labounty-Lewis, Victoria Calderon, Sabrina Kelly, Casandra Kelly, Monica Reyes, great nieces and nephews Celia Lewis, Brandon Calderon, Juaquin Perry, Vivian Calderon, and many friends of life.
Message from her family-mother: Rosemarie sang like an angel now she is one of them. Ralph and family- I will always miss your singing and the sound of your songs for the rest of my life love you sis. Nancy and family- Rosemarie always had a smile on her face even when things didn't seem to be going right. Her faith was like no others. As Rosemarie battled brain cancer she had to always work hard and relearn what was lost. She learned to read again through song. As she sang words returned and helped her to heal. Rosemarie, everyone remembers you for your wonderful voice but I remember you as a wonderful sister. I love you and I will miss you. It is sad that you are gone but relief in the knowing you are no longer suffering. Thank you for being my sister. Daughter- Asia and family, Beloved mother, you're in heaven now, for that I am peaceful in your passing, you will be missed but we will all see each other again. We love you. Rosemarie always told Monica to "do her best and hit one out of the park for me."
A private service was held for the family on April 21 a memorial service will be held in the future, details at a later day. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Keep Punching foundation in Memory of Rosemarie Torres.
