Rosemarie "Rose" Hamilton, 77, of Tucson, AZ formerly of Sawkill, NY, died Friday November 30, 2012 at Villa Maria Care Center in Tucson, AZ, following a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Rose was born July 6, 1935 in Kingston, NY, the daughter of Luther L. Ellsworth and the late Mildred Lasher Ellsworth. Rose married Bernard F. Hamilton, September 27, 1952 at St. Ann's R. C. Church in Sawkill, NY.
She was a stay-at-home Mom, which was her favorite calling in life, until she went to work in the office at Big Scott's Department Store in Kingston. Later in her life she worked in the office at J. C. Penny's Department Store in the Hudson Valley Mall in theTown of Ulster until her retirement.
In addition to her father of Kingston she is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bernie, of Tucson, AZ, three children, Rosemary Crookston of Knoxville, TN, Bernard L. Hamilton of New Paltz and David M. Hamilton of Tucson, AZ. She was the mother-in-law of Dennis Crookston and Irene Hamilton, grandmother of Thomas, Tighe, Tiffany, Traci and Tatiana Crookston, all of Knoxville, TN, several nieces and nephews also survive. Rose was predeceased by her sisters, Edith Long and Gloria Plog.
Rose will repose at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, Inc., 411 Albany Ave. Kingston, on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 3-7 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at the funeral home at 12:00 noon.
Interment will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery Sawkill, NY.
