Rose Goeddel, 88, of Conifer Lane, Kingston NY, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn N.Y. on 7/27/27, she was a daughter of the late Edward & Frances Beverly Lavender. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School. Although she had not lived in Brooklyn in many decades, she always considered herself a 'Brooklyn Girl'.
Rose worked with her husband, Karl, for many years in the restaurant business. When he retired she took a job at Letchworth Village working with people with disabilities. She retired to care for her mother who suffered from Alzheimer's disease. She was a dedicated caregiver to any family member who was ill or in need of help. Her caring and compassionate nature inspired many of her family members to pursue careers in healthcare professions. Rose was a woman with a sunny and buoyant disposition who could always see the positive in any situation. She had a marvelous sense of humor and could make the most mundane tasks seem fun. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and best friend, Lisa. She loved doing the daily crossword, was interested in politics, had a deep appreciation for poetry, music and the arts. She was a strong supporter of all her children and grandchildren's interests. Rose is survived by her three daughters, Lynda Dalnodar of Coralville, IA, Lisa Goeddel of Kingston NY, Lauren Gleason and her husband Michael of Monroe, NY, one son, Larry Goeddel and his wife Carolyn of Green Acres, FL, 13 grandchildren, Adam (Sarah) Gleason, Lindsay (Peter) Ramudo, Ashley Gleason, Morgan Gleason, Karly-Rose (Samual) Dains, Stephen Dalnodar, Levi Dalnodar, Daniel Freeman, Carol Anne (Joseph) Azaravich, Cindy Randolph, Candy Small, Eddie Goeddel and Judi Ozell. Three great grandchildren, Allison and Alex Azaravich, (who spent many summers in NY with 'Grandma Rose'), Elijah Goeddel and her beloved cat, Poe. In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband Karl Goeddel (1982), daughter, Anne Freeman (2008); a brother, Col. B. Edward Lavender (2007) and a granddaughter, Cassie Goeddel (2013).
