Rose A. Modica of Sandy Road, Town of Ulster died Friday, September 2, 2005 at Golden Hill Health Care Facility. She was 94.
She was born in Brown Station on May 18, 1911, a daughter of the late Nicolo and Maria Magistro Elia. An area resident for the past 72 years she previously worked at Bach's Cigar Factory and then Kingston Knitting Mills. Rose retired in 1974 from I.B.M, Kingston where she worked as a solderer.
Rose was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church.
Her husband Mario Modica died June 7, 1997; one son Vincent Modica; five brothers Thomas, Angelo, Charles, Samuel and Anthony Elia and two sisters Angela O'Cello and Mary Elia all died previously.
Surviving are two daughters Dolores A. Stokes of Accord and Annmarie Naccarato of Zena; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:45 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Church at 12:30 PM. Interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Sawkill.
